Sacramento police investigate shooting off campus near Hiram Johnson High School

Sacramento police officers on Friday afternoon were investigating a reported shooting near Hiram Johnson High School in the Tahoe Park East neighborhood.

The shooting occurred off campus while school was no longer in session Friday, said Brian Heap, a spokesman for the Sacramento City Unified School District.

About 3:40 p.m. Friday, officers were called to the 6800 block of 14th Avenue for a report of a shooting, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The shooting was reported to have occurred across the street from the school. At 4:45 p.m., police said no injuries connected with the shooting had been reported.

Officers were still at the scene conducting the investigation. The Police Department did not have any further information to release.

Aerial footage from a KCRA helicopter showed several police patrol vehicles in the area surrounding the high school. Officers were closing off portions of a nearby parking lot with yellow police tape.
