Police tape at crime scene

A man was killed in a stabbing early Saturday night in Upper Land Park, authorities said.

Officers responded about 5:20 p.m. to reports of an assault in the 400 block of Broadway, the Sacramento Police Department said in a news release.

A man was found to have suffered serious injures from at least one stab wound and was pronounced dead by the Sacramento Fire Department.

Another man, also with serious injuries, was taken to the hospital and has been contacted by the police.

“The exact motive remains under investigation, but it is believed that some type of disturbance preceded the assault,” police wrote in the release. “The roles of the involved individuals remains under investigation but detectives do not believe there are any suspects outstanding.”

The case was turned over to homicide detectives. They’ll work to canvas the area and interview witnesses.
