Teenager killed in North Highlands shooting. No arrest reported by Sacramento sheriff

Homicide investigation

A teenage boy died Friday night after a shooting in North Highlands, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said they found the 14-year-old lying on the front lawn of a home in the community between Sacramento and Roseville. Someone had called 911 about 9:10 p.m. saying they heard gunshots and saw a person on the ground on the 3700 block of Lenore Way.

The boy had at least one bullet wound and deputies were unable to keep him alive, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. The agency did not identify the teenager, saying the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office would do so after notifying a relative.

Sheriff’s Office investigators collected evidence and interviewed witnesses at the scene, the release said.

It was unclear what led up to the shooting, and the agency did not provide information about a possible suspect.
