Body found in Sacramento River near where woman went under this week
A woman’s body has been found on the Yolo County side of the Sacramento River near the Tower Bridge, according to West Sacramento police.
The discovery of the body was made about 7 a.m. Thursday. The identity of the body has not been released.
The body could be that of 27-year-old Aasha Sharma, who is believed to have drowned Monday near Discovery Park.
Sharma entered the water upstream of the Tower Bridge where the American and Sacramento rivers meet shortly after 4 p.m. Monday. Her husband, Purna Paudel, said he was wading with her and some friends when they accidentally entered a deep section with a strong current.
Rescuers and divers searched for the woman without success.
