Police are investigating after a man was found dead in Central Park in Davis with multiple stab wounds Thursday.

Officers were dispatched around 11:20 a.m. to the park at 401 C St. for a welfare check, Davis Police Department spokesman Lt. Dan Beckwith said.

Arriving officers found a man who had visible injuries, Beckwith said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives closed a portion of the park until 6 p.m. but the death investigation remains in its “very early” stages, Beckwith said.

The park is just east of the UC Davis campus.
