Man riding skateboard dies after he’s struck by SUV on Fair Oaks Boulevard in Carmichael

Pedestrian fatality

A man riding a skateboard died Monday evening after he was struck by a SUV heading in the same direction on Fair Oaks Boulevard in Carmichael, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The fatal collision occurred about 8:30 p.m. along the westbound lanes of Fair Oaks Boulevard, just west of Marshall Avenue, said Officer Justin Fetterly, a spokesman for the CHP North Sacramento Area Office.

He said a Chevrolet Suburban sport utility vehicle was heading west in the right lane on Fair Oaks, and a pedestrian — a man in his 20s — also was heading west.

Fetterly said the Chevrolet SUV, driven by a man also in his 20s, struck the skateboarder. The man on the skateboard suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s name and age after his family has been notified.

The CHP does not suspect alcohol or drugs were a factor in the deadly collision, which remained under investigation, Fetterly said Tuesday.
