Capital City Freeway in Sacramento reopens after shooting investigation stalled traffic
Authorities on Tuesday afternoon reopened a stretch of the Capital City Freeway after officers had blocked all northbound lanes to investigate a shooting that broke out on the freeway, snarling rush-hour traffic.
The California Highway Patrol temporarily closed northbound Capital City Freeway at H Street as they canvassed the scene for “possible evidence,” according to social media posts by the CHP’s South Sacramento office.
It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured in the shooting. The closure lasted for about two hours.
“This appears to be an isolated incident and believed to be no threat to the public,” CHP officials said.
KCRA 3’s helicopter captured video of a black pickup truck riddled with at least six bullet holes. What appeared to be investigators walked along empty lanes, apparently searching for evidence.
