2 killed, teen wounded after party at Natomas apartment complex, Sacramento police say
Two people are dead and a 17-year-old girl is in the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds after a shooting late Sunday at a South Natomas apartment complex.
The deadly shooting happened after a large party inside the Woodlands Apartments complex in the 2000 block of West El Camino Avenue at Azevedo Drive, police said. Sacramento homicide detectives were expected to be at the apartments into the morning Monday combing the scene for clues into the violence.
“Our detectives will be out this morning, knocking on doors, talking with witnesses, looking at surveillance footage,” Sacramento police spokesman Officer Anthony Gamble told reporters at the scene. “Our hearts are with the families of the decedents and our thoughts and prayers are with the victim that’s at the hospital. We want to find out who did this.”
Gamble said the two men were dead when officers arrived, both pronounced dead by fire personnel. Gamble said the girl who survived was listed in stable condition at a hospital.
The identities of the people killed — a male teen and a male adult — were expected to be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once relatives are notified.
“We’ll be figuring out what that involvement was with the party and the shooting and talking to any witnesses,” Gamble said.
No suspects have been arrested, police said. Gamble called on anyone with any information to call Sacramento police at 916-808-5471.
“Even if it seems small to you, it can be very important to our investigation,” Gamble said.
