Sacramento teen party crasher jailed on murder charge

Sacramento County sheriff’s detectives arrested a teen party crasher in connection with a North Highlands homicide earlier this month.

In the early morning hours of July 12, Rogelio Gastelum, 24, of San Mateo was shot in his torso at a house party in North Highlands. He died at the scene.

On Thursday, deputies said Ira Johnson, 18, of Sacramento, an uninvited party attendee, has been arrested in the killing of Gastelum.

Detectives said two others were wounded at the party, held on Viola Drive near Winona Way, north of Interstate 80. The event was attended by at least 80 people.

Detectives are looking for second man they say is responsible for Gastelum’s death. He is in his early 20s with a “fade” haircut, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 170 pounds.

Detectives ask anyone with information to call the Sheriff’s Department at 916-874-5115.
