A stretch of the Capital City Freeway in Sacramento was closed for about 40 minutes Saturday afternoon due to law enforcement activity, authorities said.

All southbound lanes of Business 80 were closed near Exposition Boulevard “due to police activity,” Caltrans said in a post to X, formerly Twitter, just after 4 p.m.

The CHP’s North Sacramento office said lanes were closed “due to an incident on the freeway.”

“Emergency crews are on site, and delays are expected,” the post continued.

The CHP in an update just before 4:40 p.m. said all lanes had reopened.

A CHP spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for more information.

The CHP’s online activity log showed an alert issued just before 4 p.m. stating that all southbound lanes are closed.
