The California Highway Patrol arrested a 36-year-old man Friday who is suspected of shooting another person while on the Capital City Freeway in Sacramento over Thanksgiving weekend.

With assistance from the Roseville and Rocklin police departments’ joint SWAT team, CHP officials arrested the suspect at a residence in Roseville on Friday, authorities said in a news release.

CHP officials said the freeway shooting took place around 3 p.m. Nov. 30, when the suspect shot at a vehicle near the American River Bridge. The suspect shot one person who was treated for a gunshot wound and released from a local hospital, the CHP said.

The incident resulted in a freeway closure for about 40 minutes.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including attempted murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle and illegal possession of a firearm, and was booked Friday afternoon into the Placer County Jail. He is being held with bail set at $250,000, online jail records show.
