A man accused of attempting to kidnap a Granite Bay student who was waiting for a bus was arrested Tuesday by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

The student’s parents summoned deputies about 8 a.m. to Douglas Boulevard and Quail Oaks Drive, near the Jewish Community Center Chabad of Placer County.

The student, who attends middle school, was waiting for a bus when a man approached the child and said to come with him, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim ran home, and deputies were called to investigate.

Investigators found the 38-year-old man, described as homeless, and arrested him.

He faces charges of attempting kidnapping and a misdemeanor of obstructing public officials, according to online jail records.
