Man who fought for his life after a shooting dies as Yolo County police search for suspect

Homicide investigation

Woodland police are searching for a suspect in the gunning down of a 19-year-old man Sunday afternoon in a residential area.

Officers were called just before 4 p.m. to the area of Baird Court and Powers Circle for reports of a shooting, police said online.

The victim suffered life-threatening wounds and later died at UC Davis Medical Center, police said.

The suspect, who fled on foot northeast toward Gibson Plaza shopping center, was described as a man in his 20s and 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, faded black pants and dark-colored shoes, police said.

Police asked area residents to check if they have surveillance footage of Baird Court. Tipsters with footage may call police at 530-666-2411 or 530-661-7850.

“Your help could make a critical difference in solving this case,” police said.
