Sacramento police have detained a knife-wielding man who held officers at bay from inside his Embassy Suites hotel room in Old Sacramento, ending an incident that began in the early hours of Monday.

“After several hours of negotiations and attempts to de-escalate this incident, the suspect has been detained,” Sacramento police said in a statement just after 10:30 a.m. No injuries were reported.

Officers were called about 1 a.m. Monday to the riverfront hotel on the 100 block of Capitol Mall to reports of a man armed with a knife causing a disturbance, said a police spokesperson. No injuries have been reported.

By 8 a.m., a police SWAT team and crisis negotiators joined officers in attempting to coax the man out of his hotel room and were “working diligently to bring this incident to a peaceful resolution,” said Sacramento police.
