Roadway fatality

A Toyota Tacoma driver barreled into a boulder Wednesday along Highway 50 and died, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers just before 1 p.m. were alerted to a crash near Wright Lake Road on eastbound Highway 50, the CHP said.

A driver died in the Toyota Tacoma at the scene, and no other vehicles were involved in the incident, said Officer Andrew Brown, a spokesman for the CHP’s Placerville office.

The reason behind the crash is under investigation.
