Man shot in the neck but expected to survive North Highlands shooting, sheriff’s officials say

A man was shot in the neck Friday night in North Highlands but was expected to survive the shooting, said Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office officials.

The shooting happened about 7 p.m. on Heather Tree Drive in North Highlands, according to sheriff’s officials. Authorities said the wounded person was a passenger in an SUV. The passenger was taken to a nearby hospital.

Deputies from the office’s north patrol and crime scene investigators were collecting evidence, the Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post.

The shooting remains under investigation.
