1 dead, 1 injured in Placer County stabbing, sheriff says. Suspect arrested in Vacaville

Detectives arrested a suspect associated with a stabbing that killed a woman and left a man seriously injured in west Roseville on Saturday, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies received a call of a stabbing shortly before 8:30 a.m. near Preservation Street and Castleton Way, which is located in west Roseville, according to a social media statement from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Elise Soviar, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office, said the suspect was found in Vacaville after the vehicle authorities “associated him with” was spotted in the city. His identity has not yet been released.

The Sheriff’s Office on social media said the man who was stabbed is in critical condition at a hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office in an update around 3:30 p.m. said it located the suspect with help from the Vacaville Police Department. In an earlier statement, after the suspect fled and was being sought, sheriff’s officials said they believed the suspect fled Placer County.

The suspect is currently being transported back to Placer County, according to Soviar.
