hit and run fatality

A pedestrian was killed Tuesday night in a hit-and-run collision near a residential neighborhood in Sacramento County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers with the CHP’s North Sacramento office were alerted just before 10 p.m. to a collision at Watt Avenue and Quail Park Way in Antelope, said Officer Justin Fetterly, a spokesperson for the CHP’s North Sacramento office.

A man and a woman were walking across Watt Avenue when an unknown sedan driving northbound struck the man, Fetterly said. He was taken to Mercy San Juan Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The driver fled the scene, Fetterly said.

The victim, identified as a 67-year-old man, was expected to be identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once his family had been notified. The woman did not suffer any injuries, Fetterly said.

The investigation was ongoing.
