2 teenagers shot near Sacramento’s Downtown Commons overnight. Police say 2 suspects held
Two teenagers were injured during a shooting Sunday morning in downtown Sacramento.
About 3 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department received multiple reports of gunshots and a person on the ground at Fourth and J streets near the Holiday Inn and the west end of Downtown Commons, according to audio dispatches reviewed by The Sacramento Bee.
According to police, one person who was shot was a 17-year-old boy. Officer Anthony Gamble, a department spokesperson, said that victim was in critical condition and that homicide detectives were investigating the scene.
The other victim, an 18-year-old man, was hospitalized in stable condition.
According to audio dispatches reviewed by The Sacramento Bee, witnesses told police as many as four people were seen running from the scene of the shooting. Two juveniles were arrested on suspicion of gun-related charges, Gamble said.
Detectives were still investigating their potential role in the shooting, according to Gamble, and reviewing camera footage for additional suspects.
Gamble said the Police Department would be increasing staffing in the DoCo area.
