Police clear Marysville school sites, district office after threat prompted lockdown
Four campuses in the Marysville Joint Unified School District and its district office were put on lockdown Wednesday as law enforcement investigated a potential threat, according to school officials.
A person called in a threat, which led to the lockdowns of Marysville High School as well as North Lindhurst and South Lindhurst high schools; Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts; and alternative school Abraham Lincoln, officials said in a message posted Wednesday morning on the district website.
The caller issued threats to Marysille Charter Academy of the Arts about 10:40 a.m., according to a letter sent by Marysville Joint Unified School District Acting Superintendent Jordan Reeves to parents.
“Due to the nature of the threat,” authorities decided to check every room at each campus, Reeves wrote.
The district also halted the bus route. The Marysville Police Department, Yuba County Sheriff’s Office and others investigated the threat, authorities said.
Investigators did not find evidence of a potential threat to safety, Marysville police said in a social media post.
“Please reassure your child that our campuses are safe and that any threat to student safety is handled with the utmost care,” Reeves wrote. “If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call your school.”
