2 taken to hospital after shooting near South Natomas, Sacramento police say
Officers on Tuesday evening were investigating a shooting in Sacramento that wounded two men in the South Natomas area.
The shooting was reported shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of West El Camino Avenue, just east of Morrell Street and a few block west of Northgate Boulevard, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
Officers arrived at the scene and found one person with at least one gunshot wound, said Officer Allison Smith, a Police Department spokesperson.
Smith in an update shortly after 8:15 p.m. said authorities ultimately found two men each with at least one gunshot wound. Both were taken to a hospital. The Police Department in an update to social media just before 9 p.m. said the victims’ injuries were not life-threatening.
A few miles northeast of the shooting scene, additional officers on Tuesday evening were in the 3700 block of Gozo Island Avenue in the Sundance Lake residential neighborhood as part of the shooting investigation, Smith said.
A police helicopter located a potential suspect vehicle and followed it to a home on Gozo Island Avenue. Smith said officers detained multiple people from that residence and the vehicle, but as of 10 p.m. no arrests had been announced as the investigation continued.
