Attempted kidnapping reported by student at Sacramento-area junior college
Campus police at American River College are investigating a reported kidnapping attempt after a student said they were confronted by an armed individual near ARC’s football stadium last week.
According to a Los Rios Community College District spokesperson, the student reported being approached by someone in a car in the stadium parking lot about 4:30 p.m. April 14 along the 4700 block of College Oak Drive. The student said the individual displayed a gun and ordered them to get into the vehicle. The student refused and told the individual they were calling 911, prompting the suspect to drive away.
The student did not place the call that Monday night, the spokesperson said.
The student disclosed the incident to a faculty member at the campus in Old Foothill Farms on Friday. The instructor urged the student to contact campus police, who were contacted around 2:30 p.m., the district said.
A campus-wide bulletin was issued once the incident was reported. District officials said they were continuing to investigate the incident.
