Two people found dead inside Galt home

Two people were found dead Saturday night inside a Galt home at the corner of Lyonia Drive and Ashboro Lane, according to police Chief Dan Drummond.

Police responded to a call from an adult daughter of a female resident of the house about 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Drummond said. The daughter, who does not live in Galt, said her mother told her she had killed her boyfriend and was going to kill herself, Drummond said.

“We were out front talking to her on the phone and trying to get her to come to the front door and let us in,” Drummond said. “And she said, ‘OK,’ and there was some delay. And then we heard a single gunshot.”

After a SWAT team investigated, “they found a deceased male in the chair downstairs on the first floor” and “a deceased female in the master bedroom” upstairs, Drummond said.

Galt police detectives and Sacramento County District Attorney crime lab personnel are investigating the deaths as suspicious, “of which murder-suicide is one of the possibilities,” Drummond said.

The two people were not identified pending notification of next-of-kin, he said.
