Driver injured in suspected DUI crash in Citrus Heights, police say
A Citrus Heights road was closed for more than four hours Sunday morning following a head-on collision that involved a driver suspected of operating under the influence of alcohol, police say.
The Citrus Heights Police Department said the incident happened around 5:30 a.m. and involved two vehicles near the intersection of Old Auburn Road and Bonita Way. One of the involved drivers, a 35-year-old Sacramento woman, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital, officers said.
She is expected to face felony DUI charges as a result of this incident, according to a police press release.
The woman’s two children, who were passengers in the car, were not injured and have since been placed with child protective services. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
