Victim dies days after Broadway double shooting, Sacramento police say

Homicide investigation

Sacramento police said Saturday that a man who was critically injured during a two-victim shooting last Sunday on Broadway has died.

Police responded just after 12:30 p.m. June 1 to reports of a shooting near the 2800 block of Broadway. They found the man suffering from at least one gunshot wound and transported him to a hospital, Sacramento Police Department spokesperson Officer Allison Smith said at the time.

A police news release on Saturday said department officials were told Thursday that the man, who was in critical condition, had succumbed to his injury. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release his identity after notifying his family.

Another man transported himself to the hospital after suffering at least one gunshot wound in connection with the same shooting. He sustained non-life threatening injuries and is suspected to survive.

The shooting is now being investigated as a homicide. Police said they did not have any suspect information to release. They encourage witnesses with information to contact the police dispatch center at 916-808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357 (HELP).
