Man arrested following deadly shooting in Citrus Heights on Saturday night
A Citrus Heights man is in jail on homicide charges after a deadly shooting late Saturday. It was Citrus Heights’ second homicide of the year, said Citrus Heights Police Department officials.
Victor Vladimirov Bubliyenko, 55, was arrested around 1 p.m. Sunday near San Juan and Sunset avenues. He is being held without bail at the Sacramento County Main Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Sacramento Superior Court, according to a Citrus Heights Police Department news release.
Officers responding to a call just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday found a man shot multiple times outside a home in the 6500 block of Thalia Way. Paramedics from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has not released the victim’s name, pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators said Bubliyenko and the victim knew each other, though they did not describe their relationship. Police believe the shooting was an “isolated incident” but said the investigation remains active.
Law enforcement officers from Folsom police and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search for the suspect, which included collecting evidence from two homes in the area.
Police are asking anyone with information to call the Citrus Heights Police Department’s crime tip line at 916-727-5524.
