A Yolo County man on Tuesday was convicted in federal court and sentenced to 30 days in prison for sexual assault after groping a woman on a flight last year from Seattle to Sacramento.
Jeff Lorenzo, 40, of Winters pleaded guilty in the sexual assault case and was sentenced by U.S. Magistrate Judge Sean C. Riordan, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Sacramento said in a news release.
On Aug. 9, 2024, Lorenzo was on the flight with a co-worker from Seattle to Sacramento. A 20-year-old woman was one of the last passengers to board the flight and took the last remaining seat between Lorenzo and his coworker in the back of the plane.
During the flight, Lorenzo willfully and repeatedly touched the woman without her consent, prosecutors said.
He grazed the woman’s leg with his hand, put his head near her crotch under the guise of picking up his dropped phone and pressed his arm into her breast multiple times, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors said Lorenzo’s co-workers told authorities that Lorenzo has a history of behaving inappropriately, including harassing women.
An FBI investigation led to the criminal case against Lorenzo, which was prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicole Moody.
