Two men were arrested Wednesday afternoon after Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies interrupted a kidnapping in progress at an apartment complex in Arden Arcade.

Just after 4 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a break-in at a complex in the 600 block of Howe Avenue, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. One 911 caller reported a broken window, deputies said, and another caller told dispatchers that a woman was being dragged into a black sedan.

Responding deputies quickly located the vehicle where they found two men, ages 33 and 42, and a woman matching the description of the victim. Deputies detained the suspects and confirmed the woman in the back seat was not injured.

Detectives determined that the 42-year-old man was the woman’s ex-boyfriend and subject to an active restraining order. He allegedly broke a window to gain entry while his 33-year-old accomplice kicked in the door. The ex-boyfriend is accused of dragging the woman by her hair to the car, while the second man allegedly took her wallet.

“It was only moments later that deputies located the vehicle driving away from the residence,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The 33-year-old man was identified as being on post-release community supervision for felony hit-and-run, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Both suspects were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of kidnapping, burglary and other related charges. They are scheduled to appear in Sacramento Superior Court on Friday.
