31-year-old man arrested in connection with River District shooting

Sacramento police on Sunday announced an arrest in a deadly shooting that occurred early Wednesday in the city’s River District.

Under arrest is Kevin Leacy, 31, of Sacramento. He was taken into custody on Thursday and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on homicide-related charges.

Leacy is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.

The arrest follows a shooting in the 200 block of Bannon Street. Officers responded to a call there at about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday and found a wounded man who was then transported to a hospital. The victim, identified as 39-year-old Raymond C. Mays of Sacramento, later died at the hospital.
