Police patrol cars and SWAT teams in armored vehicles quickly swarmed the residential neighborhood block as officers evacuated residents in nearby homes. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District personnel and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office deputies soon arrived on scene.
Nearly an hour later, Folsom Fire Department firefighters arrived to find plumes of smoke pouring from the home. Fire officials said their plan of attack was complicated by the person barricaded inside the burning house. More than 50 Folsom firefighters were forced to fight the growing flames from the street and overhead from ladder trucks training high pressure hoses onto the home’s roof.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District personnel and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office deputies soon arrived on scene.
By 6 p.m., flames had engulfed the house as crews fought to keep the fire from spreading to neighboring homes. Firefighters were ultimately able to contain the fire to the River Ridge Way home and stop its spread.
