Smash but no grab: Would-be burglar drives car through Orangevale liquor store

Police tape at crime scene

A would-be burglar crashed a stolen car through an Orangevale liquor store early Tuesday but left empty-handed, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sheriff’s investigators on Tuesday were piecing together details after deputies were called to the store in the 6300 block of Main Street after 4 a.m. to find the wrecked car inside the store.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators reviewed brief video footage that showed a suspect inside the store, but it appeared that no items were taken, sheriff’s officials said. The store’s owner was going through the wreckage to see if anything was stolen, said officials.

The driver of the stolen car ran away from the scene, but no suspect description was immediately available.
