Pedestrian critically injured in south Sacramento collision dies at hospital

Pedestrian fatality

A pedestrian struck by a vehicle Sunday morning in Sacramento’s Woodbine neighborhood died from their injuries, police said.

Officers were called to the collision near 24th Street and 47th Avenue just after 8 a.m. Sunday, Sacramento Police Department officials said. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. The vehicle’s driver stayed at the scene after the collision and was cooperating with authorities, who said preliminarily neither drugs nor alcohol factored in the crash.

The collision closed 24th Street between 43rd Avenue and 47th Avenue, said department officials, while major collision investigators were at the scene.

Sacramento Police Department officials announced the pedestrian’s death about 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the individual’s identity after notifying next of kin.
