A Sacramento man is in jail after allegedly calling 911 with bogus reports of bombs at a local supermarket and a fast-food restaurant.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies Wednesday booked the 46-year-old man into Sacramento County Main Jail, on a felony charge of making a false report of planting a bomb; and a misdemeanor charge of falsely reporting an emergency, according to jail records. The man is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. Sheriff’s officials said the man had no prior criminal record.

Sheriff’s officials said the man first called Sheriff’s Office dispatchers Sept. 27 to report a bomb at a south Sacramento Walmart. The man allegedly called dispatchers a second time on Sept. 28, for a report of a bomb at a Jack in the Box restaurant on Florin Road.

Dispatchers received two more calls from the man the following day, Sept. 29; the first, a report of a stabbing, before a report of a bomb at a Walmart supermarket.

Sheriff’s investigators were able to trace the telephone calls back to the man, who waits to be arraigned on the charges Friday in Sacramento Superior Court.
