Two Nevada County teens are in custody after alleged online threats involving firearms against Nevada Union High School, Nevada County Sheriff’s officials said Wednesday.

One of the teens, a 17-year-old boy who is a student at the Grass Valley campus, face allegations of criminal threats and conspiracy to commit a crime. A second suspect, a 17-year-old girl who does not attend Nevada Union, was also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime.

No injuries were reported. Sheriff’s officials remained on campus and students and faculty were not under threat Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

A school resource officer was tipped Wednesday morning to the alleged threat by school administrators who had received word from a concerned parent, Nevada County sheriff’s officials said in a statement announcing the arrests. Sheriff’s deputies and investigators along with school officials began to investigate.

“Using a variety of tools, (authorities) identified and tracked down two suspects of interest, later identified as the two 17-year-old juveniles,” Nevada County Sheriff’s officials said.
