Arden Arcade mom facing felonies in violent attack on family members, sheriff says
An Arden Arcade woman is in jail Thursday on numerous felony charges after allegedly attacking her husband and young children as one child pleaded with dispatchers for help, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Wednesday night attack at the apartment in the 2800 block of Corabel Lane began as an argument between the husband and wife over a broken personal computer tablet, officials said. But the row quickly spiraled, according to deputies.
The 38-year-old woman now held at Sacramento County Main Jail, allegedly struck her husband with a vacuum cord before turning on her 10-year-old, beating the child with a metal pole. Deputies said that the assault resulted in injuries, including possible broken bones.
Deputies said the woman then grabbed a knife and set upon her 11-year-old, cutting the child’s hand. Deputies said a crying child called 911, telling dispatchers, “My mom is trying to kill me with a knife.”
A 4-year-old child in the apartment was not hurt, sheriff’s officials said. Deputies arrived minutes after the emergency call and arrested the woman.
She now faces a list of felonies, including corporal injury on a spouse, child endangerment, corporal punishment or injury to a child, threats to commit a crime resulting in death or great bodily injury. The charges include two allegations of assault with a deadly weapon.
The mother is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail ahead of a Friday arraignment in Sacramento Superior Court.
