Woman who died after being struck by car in midtown Sacramento identified

A woman who died Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle in midtown Sacramento has been identified by authorities.

Officers responded to a report of a collision at 29th and K streets near Sutter Medical Center shortly after 6:30 p.m., according to the Sacramento Police Department. They found a woman critically injured at the scene; she was transported to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Police announced the death about 8:20 p.m. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as Alicia Andrea Barnes, 65, of Roseville.

The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

The roadway was closed for several hours while major collision and crime scene investigators processed the scene. It reopened to traffic around 11:30 p.m.
