Investigators arrested two 19-year-old men in connection with a shooting last weekend in a Yuba City neighborhood, where shots were fired between occupants of two vehicles.

The shooting was reported at 11:20 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Stabler Lane, several blocks west of Highway 99 and north of Butte House Road.

Officers arrived at the shooting scene and found several shell casings in the road, the Yuba City Police Department announced Thursday in a news release. They determined the gunfire came from a vehicle-to-vehicle exchange and interviewed multiple witnesses.

The department’s investigation unit began collecting evidence and pursuing leads. On Wednesday, officers arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of firing from a vehicle, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and acting as an accessory, police said.

With assistance from the Yuba-Sutter SWAT team on Thursday, investigators arrested the second 19-year-old man on suspicion of attempted homicide, according to the department. Both men were booked into the Sutter County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing, and police said additional arrests are expected. The motive remained under investigation.
