Body found in I-5 center divide in Woodland may be hit-and-run victim, CHP says

hit and run fatality

A body found in the center divider of Interstate 5 near Woodland on Tuesday morning may have been the victim of a hit-and-run crash, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Officers from the CHP’s Woodland office discovered the body on northbound I-5 just north of West Street shortly before 11:30 a.m., said Officer Rodney Fitzhugh, a CHP spokesperson.

Based on evidence at the scene, investigators believe the person was struck by a vehicle, Fitzhugh said. The driver involved did not stop and has not contacted the Highway Patrol to report a collision, he said.

The Yolo County Coroner’s Office was expected to identify the victim once relatives are notified of the death.

Anyone with information about the incident was urged to contact the CHP’s Woodland office at 530-702-6250.
