Sacramento County Superior Court jurors convicted the man who shot and killed a man and critically wounded the man’s brother during an argument at a North Sacramento gas station in 2023.

Diamond Zaccheaus Moore, 34, was found guilty of second-degree murder and attempted voluntary manslaughter in the Nov. 8, 2023 shootings at a Shell gas station on Del Paso Boulevard at El Camino Avenue, said Sacramento County District Attorney’s officials in a statement Wednesday.

Moore faces a maximum sentence of 73 years to life in state prison. Sentencing is March 27 before Sacramento Superior Court Judge Steve White.

Moore got into an argument with the man, later identified as Angelo Gallegos, 29, of Sacramento, before shooting him in the head, said district attorney’s officials. Moore then shot Gallegos’ brother in the head before fleeing.

Gallegos later died at a nearby hospital. Gallegos’ brother survived his wounds. The weapon was never found.

Moore was at large for days after the shootings before his capture and arrest in Reno, Nevada, by Reno and Sacramento police, according to previous Bee reporting.

Jurors on Tuesday also found true the allegations that Moore intentionally discharged a firearm causing death, personally used a firearm and inflicted great bodily injury in the shootings. Moore also has a previous strike for assault with great bodily injury, said prosecutors.

Moore remains held without bail in Sacramento County Main Jail ahead of the March sentencing date.
