A for-hire DJ was charged Thursday with seven counts of felony forgery after authorities said he embezzled more than $80,000 from the Rancho Cordova Little League.

Joseph Eta, 45, known as DJ Fizz, was hired by the youth league to entertain guests at a “Monte Carlo Night” fundraiser April 26, 2025, at Rancho Cordova City Hall, according to Sgt. Ed Igoe, a spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, which is contracted by the city for police services.

After being paid for the event, Eta allegedly used banking information associated with that transaction to steal about $82,000. Little League staff discovered and reported the theft to Rancho Cordova police in October, according to Igoe and a statement posted by the league on social media.

Following an investigation, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office issued a warrant for Eta’s arrest, and police on Tuesday tracked him to Modesto, where he was arrested.

Eta was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on $75,000 bail and later posted bond and was released, according to Rancho Cordova officers.

Eta appeared Thursday in Sacramento Superior Court, where he was charged with the felony forgery counts along with one count of misdemeanor forgery and one county of grand theft, DA’s Office spokesperson Shelly Orio said. His case was continued to April 16.

Police said all the stolen money had been spent, though the league clarified in its statement that it was able to recover “a portion of the funds” by working with its financial institution. The league declined Thursday to identify how much money had been recovered due to the ongoing investigation, but said staff were continuing to “pursue all available avenues” to track down “as much of the remaining loss as possible.”

The league, which is run by a volunteer board of directors, said it does not anticipate the loss of money to affect any operations, including player programs, scheduling, equipment, field maintenance or planned events. In response to the theft, the organization has implemented additional financial safeguards.

“Our league remains financially stable and fully committed to providing a safe, positive, and high-quality baseball experience for every child in our program.,” a portion of the league’s posted statement reads.

Rancho Cordova police said investigators believe Eta, billing himself as DJ Fizz, may have stolen from other groups and encouraged anyone with information about this or related cases to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 916-874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-442-4357.
