Pedestrian struck and killed along Power Inn Road in south Sacramento
A pedestrian was struck and killed early Friday along a busy corridor in south Sacramento, according to authorities.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District personnel and the California Highway Patrol responded about 5:45 a.m. to a crash and found a pedestrian lying in the northbound lanes of Power Inn Road between Calvine Road and Orchard Loop Lane near a gas station and a McDonald’s, according to Officer Michael Harper, a spokesperson for the CHP’s South Sacramento office.
The pedestrian, described as a person in their 40s, was walking across the road outside the crosswalk whey they were struck by the vehicle. Firefighters pronounced the pedestrian dead.
The driver remained at the scene and provided a statement to authorities, Harper said.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office was expected to identify the pedestrian after relatives were notified of their death.
Harper said drugs or alcohol were not factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The roadway reopened about 7 a.m., he said.
