An 18-year-old Placer County man was arrested on suspicion of making threats against a high school in Nevada County.

The Roseville man, who was a student at the school, was arrested Wednesday after authorities said he expressed intent to carry out a criminal threat of violence at Forest Lake Christian High School, according to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said a school resource officer received a report about the possible threat Wednesday after classes had ended for the day. The school had a previously scheduled evening event, and sheriff’s deputies staffed the campus as a precaution.

Forest Lake Christian High School is located near Lake of the Pines in Nevada County, about 9 miles north of Auburn.

Investigators later located the student in Rocklin. Rocklin police assisted the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office by detaining him in a movie theater parking lot.

After an investigation, officials said the 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats to willfully cause great bodily harm.

He was booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility in Nevada City.
