Woman killed in Northern CA head-on crash one day after arrest in CHP pursuit
A woman killed in a head-on collision Wednesday near Loma Rica in Yuba County had been arrested and booked into jail the previous day after attempting to elude California Highway Patrol officers in Nevada County, said CHP officials.
The fatal crash happened just after 2 p.m. Wednesday on Marysville Road just south of Bald Mountain Road, according to the CHP’s Yuba-Sutter office. The woman was driving a Nissan Maxima sedan on Marysville Road when her car crossed into the opposing lane and into the path of a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.
The woman was not wearing a seatbelt, said CHP officials, and she died of injuries at the scene. The driver of the Tacoma pickup suffered minor injuries and was taken to Adventist Health and Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville for treatment.
CHP officials said alcohol may have factored in the collision.
The deceased driver was involved in a pursuit Tuesday with CHP officers of the CHP’s Grass Valley officers and was booked into Yuba County Jail in Marysville by Yuba-Sutter CHP officers, officials at the patrol’s Yuba-Sutter office said Thursday.
The woman’s name has not yet been released by Yuba County coroner’s officials.
