Gunshot fatality

One person is dead following a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Olivehurst, authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 2:50 p.m. on Fleming Way between Ninth and 11th avenues, Yuba County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Katy Goodson said. The person died at the scene.

Investigators shut down the area to investigate. As of about 5 p.m., authorities were still at the scene and advising residents to avoid the area, Goodson said. Sheriff’s officials in a social media post shortly before 4:30 p.m. referred to the crime scene as “very active.”

Goodson said the agency might release further information on the fatal shooting later Tuesday.
