Man killed in Old Foothill Farms shooting, Sacramento sheriff says

Homicide investigation

Sacramento County sheriff’s homicide detectives were investigating Saturday after a man was fatally shot in Old Foothill Farms.

The Sheriff’s Office dispatch center received a report from a caller who said they had heard a gunshot around 12:20 a.m. near the 4600 block of Ashdale Court and that was there a victim lying on the grass, Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. Ed Igoe said.

Responding deputies located a man with at least one gunshot wound, Igoe said. Deputies attempted medical aid, but personnel with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District pronounced the man dead at the scene. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators canvassed the area.

No suspect information was immediately available, Igoe said. The victim’s identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after next of kin are notified.

Igoe said the homicide investigation remained active and ongoing.
