Detectives on Tuesday arrested a suspect on a charge of attempted murder in connection with a stabbing early Sunday in downtown Davis.

The 20-year-old man from Davis was arrested following a vehicle pursuit Tuesday that ended shortly after it started, the Davis Police Department announced in a news release. He also faces a felony charge of evading police.

Police said the suspect ran from the vehicle, but officers caught up to him shortly after. Nobody was injured during the vehicle pursuit and the subsequent apprehension of the suspect, according to the Police Department.

Davis Police Lt. John Davis said officers, shortly before 2:30 a.m. Sunday, were called to a hospital after a 22-year-old man arrived in the emergency room with stab wounds. Investigators determined the stabbing occurred in the 700 block of Third Street.

Police said detectives later identified the Davis man as the suspect in the stabbing. The stabbing remains under investigation.

The arrested suspect will be booked at the Yolo County Jail. His arraignment hearing in Yolo Superior Court had not been scheduled as of Tuesday evening.

Investigators asked anyone with information about the stabbing to call the Police Department at 530-747-5400 or send an email to PoliceWeb@cityofdavis.org.
