Sacramento police have made an arrest in the fatal March stabbing of a Stockton man in the city’s Downtown Commons.

Officers arrested Humberto Isador Palacios, 19, on suspicion of homicide in the March 2 stabbing that killed Dustin DeWitt, 21, of Stockton, and left a woman with stab wounds, police officials said in a statement posted to social media.

Both the woman and DeWitt were rushed from the attack in the 400 block of K Street, between the Yard House restaurant and Holiday Inn, to UC Davis Medical Center where DeWitt was pronounced dead.

DeWitt’s survivors remembered the Stockton man as a “kind and caring person who always put others first,” in a GoFundMe appeal in the days after his death.

Homicide detectives, along with tactical officers and officers from its career criminal and violent crime reduction teams plus SWAT, arrested Palacios this week, Sacramento Police Department officials announced Thursday.

Palacios was booked Wednesday into Sacramento County Main Jail where he is being held and is ineligible for bail, according to Sacramento County jail records. Palacios is scheduled to appear Friday in Sacramento Superior Court for a charge of murder.
