Citrus Heights police investigators on Friday asked the public to help them find any additional victims nearly four weeks after they arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman he met online.

Paul Ahmad Cathey, 20, of Citrus Heights faces felony charges of rape and false imprisonment, Sacramento County Jail records show. Cathey was arrested on March 31, and he remained in custody Friday afternoon at Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center near Elk Grove. His bail is set at $250,000.

Detectives believe, due to the nature of the reported sexual assault last month, Cathey may have sexually assaulted other victims who have not reported the crimes to authorities, according to a Citrus Heights Police Department news release.

On March 31, a woman reported she had been sexually assaulted by a suspect who used an online platform to solicit money in exchange for sex. Police said Cathey was identified as the sexual assault suspect in this investigation.

The woman and Cathey agreed on the amount of money that would be exchanged for sex, and she went to his home where he sexually assaulted her, according to the Police Department.

Cathey was arraigned April 2 and is scheduled to return to court May 8 for a bail review hearing, Sacramento Superior Court records show.

Investigators asked anyone who was victimized by Cathey or with information relevant to this sexual assault investigation to call the Police Department’s crime tip line at 916-727-5524.
