Children may have started vehicle fire in Folsom shopping center, police say

The Folsom Police Department is on the hunt for two people suspected of setting a fire in a retail parking lot that caused damage.

Two unidentified people are accused of damaging a commercial vehicle Monday after allegedly setting fire to cardboard placed under the vehicle, according to Folsom police spokesperson Cmdr. Andrew Bates. The vehicle’s owner reported the incident Tuesday.

Bates said the suspects could be juveniles.

The vehicle was parked at 1013 Riley Street, one of the city’s smaller strip malls with stores including Kohl’s.

Folsom police continue to investigate the incident. Those with information can call the department at 916-355-7230. The police log classified the case as an arson investigation.
