Arrest made in fatal 2024 Lincoln shooting following investigation
A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicision of homicide more than a year and a half after police say they found a Lincoln man fatally shot inside a home following a 911 call.
Emmanuel Lasu was taken into custody and booked into the South Placer County Jail Monday after the Placer County District Attorney’s Office filed a homicide charge against him in the December 2024 killing of 34-year-old Jonathan Williams, according to the Lincoln Police Department.
The investigation began in December 2024 when officers responded to a 911 hang-up call at a home in the 1200 block of Earlton Lane.
When officers arrived, they found Lasu outside the residence appearing to be covered in blood, police said. Officers entered the home to conduct a welfare check and discovered Williams dead with multiple gunshot wounds.
Detectives with the Lincoln Police Department and a crime scene investigator took over the investigation, with assistance from investigators from the Placer County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities searched the home and surrounding area for evidence and witnesses and recovered a firearm from the residence.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office later identified the victim as Williams.
Investigators said they developed probable cause during the initial investigation to arrest Lasu on suspicion of homicide. The Lincoln Police Department and the district attorney’s office continued to review evidence, conduct follow-up investigations and evaluate the case as additional information became available.
The Lincoln Police Department is asking anyone with information about the case to contact its dispatch center at (916) 645-4040.
